Life seems to be more fascinating in Divergent. Veronica Roth the creator of Divergent fascinates the readers in creating a world where they get to choose what they will be. The characters being teenagers in this story are given this opportunity they can either choose to stay with their families or leave their families. Teenagers tend to have an attitude, rebellious, and just so many mix emotions when they are at this stage. So being at this age and they are required to pick a fraction. That seems to be a lot of responsibility and thinking to do, especially since they are practically still kids.
Roth puts these in the story and the reader and character can choose from; Abnegation means selfless, Amity value kindness, nature, and peace. Candor the truth should be shared and refuse to lie, black and white thinking. Dauntless considered brave and daring, erudite considered curious and intelligent. The last one is Divergent; if the character fits none of the above than they are fraction less and will stay with the rest of the fraction less (5). Fraction less people are homeless people, they are looked down at and no one acknowledges that they use to be just like them.

She managed to write a draft, find an agent, revising it, expanding, revising again, submitting it to publisher, and getting a book deal (web). All this had just only taken less than five months which is an impressive thing. Her book was debuted in New York Times in number six and a year later it was number 1 (web). Her success has landed a spot in the celebrity 100 list ranking thanks to the success of Divergent. Her readers can look up to her. They can see how much she loves her work.
She wrote a book in college he had become a successful woman on her own. Just like everyone else she can reach success, and have fears, but not only that. All fans would like to know what fraction she would choose, and why she would choose that fraction (web). Roth is a talented woman and has a great commitment to what she want to do. Finishing college and working on her book while not doing homework is something not a lot of people could do. This shows readers that anything is possible if you just put your mind to it and that you really want it.

Divergent makes the reader think if they were in Trig’s shoes what they would choose. Would you want to be with your family? Or do you want to experience life and go with what the feel is the best thing in for themselves? The readers tend to fall with Tries and the guy she falls in love with. As a critique tells us ‘Veronica Root’s Divergent was based around many aspects, but what I like the most about this book was that it displays the not only the relationship that Tries had with four” (web).
Tries the main character of Divergent gave the fans a connection with the young teen. “Divergent by Veronica Roth is, for all good and bad, a young adult book, carrying with it all the troops and ideological perfection unnecessary when writing sixteen year old stuff” (web). The book really showed readers that it is okay to choose who they want to be in life and to take the consequences of it. Not only does she give you a lot of literary devices right from the beginning of the story she gives imagery “there is one mirror in my house it’s behind a sliding panel. In the hallway upstairs” (1 That shows the reader that they keep the mirror hidden and they only have one. As you continue to read it shows you how calm the setting is she gives you imagery, “l sit on the stool and my mother stands behind me with the scissors, trimming. The strands fall on the floor in a dull, blond ring. When she finishes, she pulls my hair away from my face and twists into a knot” (page 1).
They seem calm and well put together but the calmness of it all makes the reader have a feeling something might happen. Her fraction does not let her look at herself for a long period of time or celebrate her birthday as she explains in, imagery, point of view, and first person. “In y reflection, I see a narrow face, wide, round eyes, and a long, thin nose- I still look like a little girl, through something in the last few months I turned sixteen” (2). She does not know when her birthday is, her fractions similar to some religions.
You do not get to choose what religion you want to be born to you are just born into it. The way she jumped to action was just amazing on page 2 on Divergent she foreshadows and gives the plot. “Today is the day of the aptitude test that will show me which of the five fractions I belong in. And tomorrow, at the choosing ceremony. I will decide on a fraction; I will decide he rest of my life; I will decide to stay with my family or abandon them. This makes the reader think again what would you do in this situation?
It gives a hint on what will happen next, now they know that the upcoming On what she will choose is getting close. She writes what any high school students would think about, or what they would be going through. She combines foreshadowing, setting, and plot in one paragraph. “It is likely that we will not walk these halls again after the choosing ceremony- one we choose, our new fraction will be responsible for finishing our education. Our classes are out today, so we will attend all of them before the aptitude tests, which takes place after lunch, my heart rate is already elevated. Page 5 any teenager might relate to this. Her dialogue and character tells you what she might choose “l paused by a window in the E. Wing and wait for the Dauntless to arrive. I do this every morning. At exactly 7:25, the Dauntless prove their bravery by jumping from a moving train” (7) . The reader can tell that Tries wants to be just like the Dauntless. She looks at them with such an amazement. As the story continues she finally gets to be what she always reamed of a Dauntless, and this is where Veronica gives Tries a new world she renames her by using dialogue and imagery. His voice is deep, and it rumbles. ” What’s your name? “Urn… “L don’t know why hesitated. But “Beatrice” just doesn’t seem right anymore. “Think about it, “he says, a faint smile curling his lops”, you don’t get to pick again “a new place, a new name. I can’t be rename here. “Tries,” I say firmly. Throughout the story Tries goes from fights, emotions, and love. All of this a teenager goes through in life as well. That’s how the reader can connect with Tries as she is just a typical girl trying o fit in a group that she wants to be part of.
