Volunteer Fire Department

The Eagles Nest Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1990 as a satellite to the Ely Fire Department to provide fire suppression and prevention for the Eagles Nest Area.  The department started with one brush rig and soon purchased the Ford pumper.

The department presently has two pumpers, one water tender (tanker) and two brush rigs.  All the equipment is housed in a modern, heated firehouse on Bear Head State Park Road.  The department has 17 members.  Monthly meetings are held in the firehouse on the last Thursday of the month. Also in the fire department is the medical support team which includes 2 EMTs and 3 First Responders. All 5 medical people carry a well stocked trauma bag and 4 members carry AEDs (defibrillators).

The department is looking for "A Few Good Men (and Women)". If you are new to the area, you should consider joining the department. We meet at 6:30 PM on the last Thursday of the month in the firehouse. This month's meeting will be on Nov. 30, 2006. Help keep your Eagles Nest Lakes area safe.
